Your first weeks at university

Starting university is exhilarating, but it also can feel chaotic and overwhelming. Don’t panic; it will all soon become familiar.  With the flurry of activity, it is easy to miss crucial details in the first few weeks.

Use the checklist below to avoid feeling overloaded with information and to ensure that you don’t miss anything.

First-semester checklist

1. Have you completed your DELNA?

2. Have you accessed your course Canvas page?

3. Do you know when your assessment tasks are?

4. Have you put these assessment dates into your calendar?

5. Do you know the weighting of your assessment tasks?

6. Do you know which tutorials/workshops are compulsory?

7. Do you know what support is available to you for assignment help?

8. Do you know how to contact a librarian?

9. Do you know the office hours of your lecturers and where to meet them?

10. Have you looked at Piazza for information?

11. Did you read your B111, B114, B115 or Infosys110 assessment tasks?

12. Do you know what to do when you feel stressed?

13. Have you looked at the Learning Hub?

14. Do you know where to sign up for the Academic Skills workshops?
